Lloyd Cellars

When you are raised with a bottle of wine and you get an economics degree , you come to realize that something is missing.  In a nutshell, Rob Lloyd started his wine career at a Napa tasting room,  to wind up back in College (UC Davis) to pursue a Masters Degree in Enology (winemaking) in 1999.  He worked his way back up the “wine” ladder In 2001 he became the winemaker at Rombauer till 2008 when he decided it was time to cut the umbilical cord and go “pro” when he created Lloyd wines. The rest is history. He used his Rombauer expertise to create this boutique venture.

Lloyd Chardonnay is an unabashed California Chardonnay. The grapes come from two of my favorite Sangiacomo Vineyards, Home Ranch and Green Acres in the Carneros region. Picked at their peak of ripeness, the grapes are gently pressed, settled, and moved to barrels to be cold fermented. The wine slowly undergoes primary and secondary fermentation for nine months before being racked off its primary lees, filtered, and bottled.

Aromatics of pineapple, vanilla, and tropical fruit jump out of the glass. A rich mouth-feel balanced with just enough acidity allow the wine to disappear quickly, leaving you waiting for the next taste… enjoy!
