The 2018 Old Soul Red (a blend of 43% Zinfandel, 31% Malbec, 26% Petite Sirah) is probably one of the best value non-mainstream red blends currently on the market. Sourced from 100% organic, and biodynamic vineyards, the “OSR” will please both your palate as well as the wallet! This wine has a beautiful, deep ruby color, a product of its Petite Sirah component. Aromas are dark and intense, with exotic raspberry, black cherry, and cracked pepper notes. The palate shows both richness and elegance, with a ripe tannic structure and a spiciness that reflects the vintage. The wine is Inky purple in color. This sensational vintage of Old Soul Red offers notes of blackberry cobbler and mocha on the nose. The palate is rich and dense, with ripe tannins that wrap around the core of the fruit and lend to a long, juicy finish. The hallmark of a successful blend is its versatility.

Food Pairing: The 2018 Old Soul Red would be equally at home on a Wednesday night served with carne asada tacos as it would be on a Saturday evening with a sophisticated mixed grill and roasted root vegetables.

Wine Spectator 92 Points: “Tones of dark chocolate and rich black fruit give an intriguing personality to this full-bodied, moderately tannic wine. Cocoa notes melt on the palate as the flavors expand through a lingering finish.”

Winemaker Notes: “The grapes were picked at full maturity, de-stemmed and gently transferred into fermenters with 50% whole berries. They soaked at a cool temperature for four to seven days, at which point native yeast fermentation began in both open and closed top fermenters. The free run juice was aged in 10% new thin-stave French oak and four year seasoned American oak for 18 months, which included native malolactic fermentation. The wine is savory, rich, and dense with ripe tannins that wrap around a core of fruit leading to a long, juicy finish.”
