Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points: “Another gorgeous wine. Ripe raspberries, mulberries, violets, and assorted sappy flower notes. Incredibly pure, elegant, and seamless on the palate. Balance, tannin quality and texture are gorgeous. Anchor to the AVA, this vineyard is revered for unsurpassed quality. The oldest vines in the county, planted first in 1971 on sloping, mineral-rich soils, 25% new French oak, unfined and unfiltered. Only 124 six-packs were produced.”

The Vineyard: The Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is renowned for both its historical significance and the unsurpassed quality of the fruit it produces. First planted in 1971, this sustainably farmed vineyard is home to the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Santa Barbara County. This vineyard is rich with calcium enriched clay loam soils, fractured shale and chert. This complex array of alluvial soils have accumulated over millions of years at the base of these foothills, an extension of the Santa Ynez Mountains which run west towards the Ocean.
