After a little hiatus Karl Lawrence Cabernet is back. I am not the gossip person, so I will not elaborate why the wine “disappeared” for a few years. The owner Ric Henry was born in Napa, but spent most of his younger years in nearby Santa Rosa and Sacramento. After coming back to attend Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, he hopped around the country practicing social work and starting a family with his college sweetheart, Cheryl.
They returned to the valley in 1990 so Cheryl could join the busy OB/GYN practice at St. Helena Hospital. Ric got his start making wine with a couple barrels of basement Calistoga zinfandel with his brother.

Winery Notes: The 2015 harvest became known as the year of the heat spike. Several days of 100-degree heat matured the tannins in the fruit while the vines held their flavor profile. Winemaker Bruce Devlin says that we were able “to achieve a wine that is youthful in its expression and yet mature in its elegance.” Bruce describes the vintage as fruit forward with round and velvety tannins and structure. The 2015 Karl Lawrence is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot &1% Cabernet Franc
