In 1996 David Jackson purchased a 28 year old, dry farmed vineyard in Calistoga and converted it into an award source for great Cabernet. The first vintage was incepted in a garage in San Francisco, but soon the garage was too small and the Jacksons (JAX) realized that they also needed professional help. They enlisted cult winemaker Kirk Venge and in no-time the wines adorned the wine list of top New York and San Francisco restaurants. I was introduced to the wine while dining in a great San Francisco restaurant, and decided to look them up – the rest is history.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Jax’ Estate Vineyard in Calistoga offers up an amazing hue and bold aromas of dark cherry, currant and espresso notes. The wine is full in body and extremely well balanced. Loaded with bright black stone fruit, whiff of chocolate-espresso bean notes and a touch of elegant minerality. The quality French Oak barrels accentuates some of the vanilla and silky tannins.
