Leviathan is a family venture between Andy, his wife Annie Favia-Erikson, and her family. The 2010 is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc & 7% Syrah. Leviathan means “something unusually large or formidable.” I can say that this latest release is just that!
Perfumes of star anise, paprika, and thyme draw into the glass. Flavors of cherries and blackberry jam rush over the palate, with smooth tannins and intense fruit lingering on a lengthy finish. A sizable wine, the newest incarnation of Leviathan is a hedonistic delight now and should provide added excitement in years to come – but why wait?
