Proprietors Mark Pulido and Donna Walker have a long history in Napa Valley, building relationships and putting down roots in the community. In the early 1980s, Donna and Mark began making regular trips to the Valley, meeting vintners at iconic cellars where they often tasted from the barrel. They were drawn into tasting room discussions about harvest and the rhythms of crafting wine. Pulido~Walker is a natural outgrowth of the couple’s passion, as collectors, for the place and its promise. Their Mt. Veeder Estate is a testament to the family’s long-term commitment to Napa Valley and view toward the future. They hooked up with Thomas Rivers Brown to create their own brand, and the rest as they say… is history.

Jeb Dunnuck 98 Points: “Even better, I suspect the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon might be a candidate for the wine of the vintage with 4-5 years of bottle age. From a vineyard on Pritchard Hill, just across from Colgin, and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this inky colored beauty offers loads of blueberry and blackcurrant liqueur-like fruits as well as lots of spice, flowery incense, and subtle herbal undertones. Textbook Cabernet on the nose, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and a great, great finish. It’s one of the few wines in the vintage that comes closest, and is clearly the overarching characteristic of the 2017 Napa Valley vintage.”
 
Winery Notes: “Recent vintages of the Pulido~Walker Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon exhibit a broad mix of savory and herbal elements with black fruit. The 2017 is much more red-fruit focused, harkening back to the fresh taste profile of earlier vintages. This refreshing red-fruit quality, accentuated by the heat, is clearly the overarching characteristic of the 2017 Napa Valley vintage.”
