The wait is over, Frank’s “OWN” wine finally arrived!

Dear Friends,

The much anticipated release of our “own” Melis Family Bordeaux Blend is upon us!

Those who purchased our “previous” family label know that we had to change our name due to some red-tape issues. Nothing else has changed though, it is still the same good quality wine!

The 2015 as you might recall was the last vintage of the 5+ year drought we experienced in California. It was also the lowest yielding vintage in decades for many wineries, including us.  That said, we are very excited to offer this great Cabernet blend to you, and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as the previous vintages.

The 2015 Melis Family Proprietary Red is a blend of 30% each Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and 5% each Malbec and Petit Verdot sourced from two well-known Napa Valley vineyards in Oakville and Atlas Peak. The wine was aged for 18 months in high quality Troncais French oak barrels. Striking aromas of black stone fruit, plums and espresso beans jump out of the glass. The wine is medium to full in body, yet very elegant from start to finish. The 2015 Melis Family Red offers up gobs of black currant, crème de cassis, chocolate and espresso bean flavors leading into a long complex but silky tannin finish. I suggest decanting this youngster 1 or 2 hours prior to imbibing.  Very small production!

PS: The 88.88 is a take on the “lucky” Chinese number 8, since my wife was born in Hong Kong!
