The 2010 Carte Blanche Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects vineyard selections from both Oakville’s valley floor and Calistoga’s rocky hillside. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine reveals the delicate balance of ripe dark fruits, plush velvety tannins from Beckstoffer’s Missouri Hopper Vineyard, and savory notes, structure and minerality from the McBride Vineyard. McBride’s 10% Petite Verdot provides a brooding base note, depth and nuance. With each harvest, we will blend the finest fruit from each block utilizing our Bordeaux varietals to complete our signature Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose reveals ripe, dark fruits of blackberry and cassis with background hints of black cherry, mocha and molasses. On the palate, the texture is silky and the attack reveals the deep core of the wine. Velvety tannins showcase black currant, cassis, dried herbs and graphite with high notes of black cherry. Bittersweet chocolate, asphalt and tobacco linger on the finish. Ample structure of fine grain tannins will allow for cellar aging.

The wine received a 94 Point rating from Robert Parker as well – Parker notes :” Another powerful, young wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is incredibly dense and virtually impenetrable. Blue and black fruit, grilled herbs, licorice, new leather, menthol and tobacco flow through to an incisive finish layered with graphite and crushed rocks. Today, the 2010 is cool and implosive, suggesting it needs at least another few years to come together. The addition of 10% Petit Verdot seems to give the wine some of its brooding personality. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.”

Carte Blanche 2010 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
Retail 80.00 – GGWC 74.99 – FREE SHIPPING on 4 or more
Can mix and match with other Carte Blanche wines

The 2010 Carte Blanche Chardonnay showcases beautiful Burgundian structure with 80% of the Chardonnay coming from Nobles Ranch. Two vineyard influences were chosen: Nobles Ranch on the Sonoma Coast and Lone Oaks Vineyard in the Russian River. The staggering Nobles Ranch sits just above the cloud line, soaking up the Pacific influence with enough sunlight to ripen slowly. Located just inland, a second vineyard was chosen to provide not only terroir differences, but also a slightly richer and denser chardonnay to complement the austerity and structure from the Pacific coast site. Our goal is to manage acid structure and ripeness well before the grapes are ever picked. 100% Chardonnay. A bright nose of pears, grapefruit and baked pie crust provide a foundation to higher notes of Magnolia flower and a hint of gunpowder. The palate is fresh and focused, evenly balanced by ripe tannins and prominent structure. Flavors of custard are accentuated by William pear, lychee, Meyer lemon and oyster shell lingers.  200 cases produced.

Carte Blanche 2010 “Sandstone Seven”

The 2010 Sandstone Seven is reminiscent of the great white wines of the southern Rhone, consisting of 40% Viognier, 40% Marsanne, and 20% Roussanne. A wine which certainly speaks of its place, Alder Springs Vineyard lies seven miles from the Pacific coast in Mendocino and sits on well drained ancient sandstone slopes. Three blocks rest at elevations ranging from 1700’ to 2700’. The coastal range offers the perfect blend of maritime influence and daytime sun exposure. The climate, coupled with Stu Bewley’s farming practices led us to put this wine together. Stu’s attention to detail has been termed, bonsai farming, treating each cluster as if it were the entire vineyard, thus yielding small, complex and intensely flavored berries. Bright white flowers jump from the glass, along with a supporting ensemble of lemon zest, quince, and wet stones. The palate entry is silky & rich with a fine line of acidic structure framing a bouquet of Bosque pear, pollen, and highlights of white gooseberry. Crushed granite and petrol faintly sit within the clean finish. Only 125 cases produced.
