Mueller 2007 Pinot Noir “Emily’s Cuvee” Russian River Valley

Mueller 2007 Pinot Noir "Emily's Cuvee"The 2007 Emily’s Cuvée has a rich cranberry red color. Displaying intense aromas of Bing cherries, warm, ripe raspberries, smoke and anise with a broad spectrum of flavors including cherry cola, strawberry and vanilla. Fleshy body and rich, apparent tannins contribute to its long and flavorful finish. Its broad array of flavors and aromas will age gracefully and become more complex over the next several years.

Road 31 2007 Pinot Noir, Napa Valley

Road 31 2007 Pinot NoirThe nose is dark and brooding, with the cola, cherry, and coffee accents. The wine is racy and lively, with a strong base note of dark fruit. It has both length of finish and depth of flavor. While intense, the wine has a delicacy of aromatics that balances the wine in a way I rarely experience with Pinot. It will drink wonderfully right upon release, continue to excel as the first holidays approach, and I believe this wine could cellar for 8 years from vintage date and still deliver.

Barrel 27 Grenache 2007 “Rock and a Hard Place” Paso Robles

Barrel 27 Grenache "A Rock and a Hard Place"A beautifully expressive wine; medium ruby-black in color with a captivating nose of sweet raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry, with notes of milk chocolate, floral perfumes, dried cranberry, tar and charcoal. On the palate, the wine shows the same pure concentrated fruit flavors filled out with notes of black tea and orange rind with a hint rose petal. Soft and rich, with a beautiful, broad mid palate, the wine’s fruit and spice notes continue to build through the long, long finish. Inspired by the great wines of France’s Chateauneuf du Pape, this is a unique Californian interpretation of one of the World’s greatest grapes.

Page 2007 "The Stash"The second in our set of new releases from Page Wine Cellars is “The Stash” 2007. This is a sexy, lush wine. Completely balanced in nature, The Stash reflects what an amazing wine should be. Without question, it is powerful, amazingly complex, and quintessentially Cabernet Sauvignon.

The small addition of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot lifts up the power of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Franc adds a light violet floral aroma to the nose. Fresh out of the oven blueberry pie flavors interlaced with blackberry and cedar lead to a finish with a brilliant note of toasted cocoa and coffee beans. As the wine unfolds on the pallet, lush fruit gives way to a seductive texture that seems to continually brush the senses with an assortment of spices and deep black cassis.

This wine has a very limited production – only 151 six packs were produced.

Page 2007 Proprietary Red, Napa Valley

Crafted as a right bank style Bordeaux blend, the 2007 vintage consists primarily of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which make up nearly three-quarters of the cuvee. The remaining quarter is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon rounded out by small additions of Petit Verdot, and Malbec. These five varietals mingle flawlessly to create an alchemy of intricate flavors and velvety textures.

It displays an elegant and supple pallet under which the warm flavors of baked black cherries and roasted cacao bean are expressed. Aromas of dark summer berries, cinnamon, and chocolate continue to develop as the wine continues to open in the glass.

This is a wine designed to push the barriers of complexity. 2007 was an astounding growing season, which produced deeply intricate and beautiful fruit throughout the Valley. It is a unique meritage that expresses the full complexity and depth of the incredible fruit harvested. The ’07 PR is drinking beautifully, especially when decanted, but do not be afraid to lay a few bottles down for cellaring. It will continue to develop in complexity and richness for more than a decade.
