A 12% Alc Pinot Producer of the Year

Wine & Spirits magazine rated Lioco the Pinot Noir of the year after tasting over 1000 Pinot Noirs!
This husband & wife venture was created in 2001 between two friends who set out to conquer the world.  Matt & Sara Lickleider are able to source from some of the best vineyards California has to offer (Hirsch, Michaud, etc) and work with some of the best growers as well.  This resulting in high quality, but well-priced wines.Matt’s big issue has been alchohol levels. So you’ll be happy to know, the 2015 is only 12.0% ABV!

Galloni 94 Points: “The 2015 Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard is quite a bit darker and deeper than La Selva, the other Anderson Valley Pinot in the range. Black cherry, lavender, spice and leather find support from beams of incisive tannin. There is a real feeling of density and power that adds to the wine’s considerable appeal.”

Winemaker Notes: “We saw a short crop up on this mountain, which led to early ripened fruit. As usual, Cerise came in sparkling clean—so clean we didn’t bother to sort it. Every cluster was put to use. We backed down on the % of whole cluster to account for the micro-sized berries (and higher skin-to-juice ratios). What’s amazing is how much presence this wine has at a mere 12.% abv. This 2015 Cerise really begs the Burgundy comparison—it reminds us of a Pommard Epenots.
