Exceptional Cabernet by 99 Point Winemaker

A striking hillside property, Cornell is located on Spring Mountain, not too far from Togni, Pride and Fisher. In 2013, proprietors Henry and Vanessa Cornell hired winemaker Françoise Peschon to oversee a complete makeover, and create the first estate grown wine from their then 10 year-old vineyard.

Peschon brought in vineyard guru Phil Coturri (Kamen, etc.), who created the plan to redevelop the property and convert the estate to organic farming. The wines are made in the contemporary, classically leaning style that has brought Françoise Peschon so much acclaim at Araujo Estate and Vine Hill Ranch. Quite simply, these are gorgeous mountain Cabernets endowed with real class and pedigree.

The deep, inky violet color gives the first hint of the mountain-derived intensity in the glass. Signature notes of Cabernet Sauvignon emerge in the aromas: plum, boysenberry, violet, cassis, cedar. Even more compelling are the undertones of cocoa, mandarin orange zest, jasmine blossom, sage, and other fresh herbs. The interplay of juicy acidity and fine-grained tannin characterizes the palate, one supporting the other as the wine unfolds seamlessly from entry to extended finish. Irresistible freshness and vibrancy suggest a degree of approachability unusual for such a wine in its youth, while the underlying structure leaves no doubt about the suitability for long-term cellaring.

Galloni 95 Points: “Bright, polished and super-refined to the core. Medium in body and gracious in the style of the year, the 2014 Cornell possesses remarkable balance. The 2014 is tightly wound and in need of time, but it is exceptionally beautiful and resonant. Beams of salinity extend the finish while adding brightness. This is a terrific debut for the winemaking team in their first full year in charge of the farming and winemaking.”

Under $40 – 95 Point Rated Red

Walter Hansel has become synonymous with great quality at a great price!  Year after year these wines seem to impress me and my clientele alike. The first vines were planted in 1978 just a up the block from Kistler!  The actual winery did not start till 1996 when they produced 3 barrels of Pinot Noir and 10 barrels of Chardonnay, and the rest as they say, is history!  Stephen Hansel (Walter’s son) had one of the best winemakers as his tutor (Tom Rochiolli) so it is no surprise that they are still putting out great wines decades later.  Year after this winery has produced amazing “Dollar Cost Average” under priced wines!

The 2015 Pinot Noir Estate has an extra gear to it because of the tiny yields. It exhibits loads of rich black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, a lush, sweet, spicy mouthfeel with full body, intense concentration and a long finish that has energy from the vibrant acidity. Drink it over the next decade or more.

Galloni 95 Points: “The 2015 Pinot Noir The Estate Vineyard boasts off the charts intensity, richness and texture. Soaring aromatics and a core of dark red and bluish fruit are front and center. Racy and voluptuous to the core, the Estate captures all the intensity of this vintage. This is a dazzling Pinot from Stephen Hansel, not to mention one of the best values readers will find.”

A CALIFORNIA EXCLUSIVE! Our Best “Vintage” Champagne to date

The Cazals Champagne house is located in the heart of Côte du Blancs, in Mesnil sur Oger. Founded in 1897, it is today directed by Delphine Cazals, the great granddaughter of the founder Claude Cazals. Clos Cazals may be one of Champagne’s best-kept secrets. It sits tucked away in the Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru village that is located in the Côte des Blancs just south of Epernay. The Blanc de Blancs produced in this small village are amongst the world’s top echelon champagnes. This beautiful and extremely limited grower champagne is only available in Calfornia!

This “old vine” Champagne is a 100% hand-harvested Chardonnay from 50 year old vines planted on chalky soil in Oger, the Clos (there are only 21 of them in Champagne) was bought by the Cazals family in the 1940′s, from famous politician and Nobel Peace Prize winner Léon Bourgeois.  On the nose you’ll encounter intensity and complex aromatics for bread, hazelnut and apricot.  On the large palate you are greeted by a velvety texture that is warm with a mineral afterglow.

A $100 Napa Cab at a $50 price tag

Wolf Family was created in 1997 by Jane and Doug Wolf.  In 2013 they sold the property and purchased another great existing vineyard on White Lane a stone’s throw away.  With well over two decades of great winemaking from their “ace” Karen Culler, they continue to amaze me. They still make two Cabernets, one 100% Estate and the Phaedrus, which is a blend of two excellent Napa vineyards (The Wolf Estate & the Montgomery Vineyard in Calistaga).

The new Wolf Family Estate on White Lane in St Helena is a stone’s throw away from their old Ingelwood Estate vineyard and offers all the same unctuous flavors that St Helena is known. The new Phaedrus offers up gobs of blackberry, and black stone fruits, a whiff of tobacco and a rich but balanced texture.  The (new) Montgomery Vineyard in Calistoga gives the wine more of its delicious dark fruit aroma, while the palate is full bodied and with a perfectly balanced acid- tannin profile.  The 20 month barrel aging in French Oak barrels (2/3 new) gives the wine a toasty and complex aroma that deserves a long cellaring. As always a very small production.

Paul Lato 2016 Releases Pre-Sale!

Great wines from our friend Paul Lato!  The 2016 vintage is clearly one for the records books (amazing quality, but sadly still small quantities).  As always, Paul’s wines are first-come, first served.

We are offering “futures” to our Paul Lato clients in January.  We expect the wines to arrive in late March early April 2018.

The wines are NOT on our website, so please call  Frank @ 415.337.4083 or email frank@ggwc.com  with your requests.

A little background on Paul Lato:
Paul Lato was born in Poland. He worked as a certified Sommelier in one of Toronto’s most exclusive restaurants and visited California for the first time in early 1990s.  Jim Clendenen (owner of ABC winery & Clendenen wines) told Paul to just pack up and move here, and he would show him the ropes –  a decade later he did make the move and took a job at Bien Nacido vineyards for just $10.00 per hour, he did get free “lodging” at the bunkhouse in the vineyard. The Bien Nacido owner pushed Paul to make his own wine. With some tutoring (he observed the best in the business for some years, asked a lot of questions and experimented a lot) he made his first wines and by chance met Robert Parker.  Parker asked him if “he” was the Polish Sommelier that makes wine and said that he wanted to taste it.  Parker told him that he would tell him immediately if the wine was the real McCoy or …. (slang for excrement) Parker was blown away and gave Paul Lato a rave review. From then on, Paul’s new career was born.
I met Paul in 2002 and have been a big fan since day one, and could say that we have become good friends along the way.  Paul is even making wine under my own “Melis Family” label!

Paul Lato 2016 Chardonnay “Belle de Jour”
GGWC 79.99

This bottling has created a real following.  I would be hard pressed, but I can tell you that this one is every bit as good as the ‘12 (95 Pt WA), ‘13 (96 Pt WA) & ‘14 (95 Pt WA) bottlings, maybe a touch more focused and more elegant! A real “skilled” winemaker gem! Due to the success with the previous vintages I have a lot of demand for this bottling and it will be sold out well before it arrives at my store!

Paul Lato Notes: “Duvarita is a biodynamic-in-the-making vineyard, with a purity, brightness, and provincial beauty to the fruit. Fresh aromas of yellow apple and lime rind arise on the clean and crisp nose, while fully-rounded tones of butterscotch and Meyer lemon envelop the palate in juicy bliss. The finish is long and mouth-watering with toasted hazelnut and honeysuckle notes lingering.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 Review 96 Points: “Sautéed apple, salted butter, brioche and toasted bread notes all emerge from this 2015 Chardonnay Belle Du Jour Duvarita Vineyard, which comes from a great site in the Sta. Rita Hills and was fermented and aged in 50% new oak. Rich, supple, elegant, yet stacked Chardonnay that’s already impossible to resist. I love its concentration and I suspect it will evolve nicely for a decade or more.”

Paul Lato 2016 Chardonnay “Souvenir”
GGWC 79.99

This is a more than worthy follow-up to the other great Souvenir bottlings which received 96-98 Point ratings! This wine might be Paul’s boldest production, yet another gem in my book.  It is by far Paul’s smallest bottling, only 4 barrels produced.  This is a carbon copy of the 2011 that received rave reviews from my clients and critics alike! I’d be shocked not to see similar scores, or higher!

Paul Lato Notes: “24-year-old Wente clone vines contribute to the classic, precise nature of this naturally-pleasing Chardonnay. Golden straw-colored in the glass, notes of clover honey and roasted plantain notes emerge from the nose with great clarity. The mouthfeel is electric and buoyant, with wet limestone minerality and a stunning swell of lemon-like acidity that enlivens the palate.”

Jeb Dunnuck (Formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 review 98 Points: “Showing a touch more oak (it was brought up in 70% new barrels), the 2015 Chardonnay le Souvenir Sierra Madre Vineyard offers classic notes of white peach, pineapple and buttered stone fruits intermixed with spice and hints of toasted nuts. It’s ripe, beautifully textured and full-bodied on the palate offering tons of richness and depth as well as a great finish.”

Paul Lato 2016 Chardonnay “East of Eden” Pisoni Vineyard
GGWC 79.99

This is the Sixth Release of the “East of Eden” Chardonnay from the famed Pisoni Vineyard. Only a few barrels were produced, and I was lucky to get a few cases from Paul as they were all earmarked for his mailing list and for restaurants like French Laundry, Per Se, Gary Danko, etc.  This is probably the best rendition of a 1er Cru Montrachet produced in California.  As you are aware of Paul’s meticulous wine-making skills and strategy, nothing escapes this guru of precision! I’d say that this wine is very similar to the great 2015 vintage, which received 97 Points from Parker!

Paul Lato notes: “The low-yields of Pisoni Vineyard contribute to this muscular and delineated wine, which several Master Sommelier’s have compared to the legendary Corton of Burgundy. The unique aromatic profile shows alpine flower along with sea water elements and a touch of sweet almond paste. The palate has a textured, tannin-like structure with subdued mineral tones that allow for white floral and tropical qualities to lift up beautifully.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 98 Points: “Showing a similar color as the other Chardonnays, the 2015 Chardonnay East of Eden Pisoni Vineyard offers a stunning minerality to go with notions toasted bread, charcoal, buttered stone fruits and spice. Rich, concentrated, decadent and textured, it has wonderfully bright acidity and is the finest Chardonnay I’ve tasted from Paul.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Seabiscuit”
GGWC 84.99

This latest Zotovich “Seabiscuit” bottling is by far Paul’s best effort to date! I would say that it will rival his 97 Point rated 2015 version!  As it is the case with all of Paul’s wines, I get limited amounts of this great gems, so I can only remind you how great and limited they are!

Paul Lato Notes: “Robust and explosive, this is an exquisite expression of a previously-neglected vineyard that is now becoming a thoroughbred with the proper attention. The nose is huge, bursting with redcurrant, blueberry, and iodine in rich array. The strength of the aromatics is matched on the palate as sturdy, age-worthy tannins reveal wave after wave of dried fruit and hard spice.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 97 Points: “One of the more Burgundian in style, the 2015 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard (15 months in 60% new French oak) is one of my favorite Pinot Noirs in the vintage. Concentrated, layered and ethereally textured, this balanced and pure Pinot Noir has ultra-fine tannin and offers beautiful aromas of framboise and blueberry fruits, flowers, violets and blood orange. Incredibly elegant and seamless, it’s pure class. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Suerte” Solomon Hills
GGWC 86.99

Paul is not slowing down one bit, and this workhorse “Suerte” will amaze many Pinot lovers alike! It shows gorgeously young, and will even improve a lot more in the years to come!  Only a few barrels produced! This is every bit as good as the 96 point rated 2014 vintage!

Paul Lato Notes: “Solomon Hills is a Grand-Cru-in-the-making site of great character, arguably the most unique in the Santa Maria Valley. The aromatics show gunpowder, black cherry, and strawberry jam notes of deep intensity and generosity. The palate is pure velvet, seamlessly balancing rich, tarry earth tones that cling to the palate with a bright acid lift towards the finish. Striking in both beauty and intelligence.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 96 Points: “The darkest colored in the lineup, the 2015 Pinot Noir Suerte Solomon Hills Vineyard saw 15 months in 65% new French oak. It’s a big, ripe, sexy effort that dishes up lots of cassis and strawberry fruits intermixed with notions of smoked earth, licorice and spices. Layered, pure and silky on the palate, it has fine tannin and a great finish. This textured 2015 is guaranteed to impress over the coming 7-8+ years”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Lancelot” Pisoni Vineyard
GGWC 99.99

The “flagship” wine of Paul’s Portfolio!  I don’t need to tell you that the Pisoni vineyard is often compared to the best (1er and Grand Cru) vineyards in Burgundy, and Paul puts a real Burgundian twist on this source!  This wine equals the best of the previous Lancelot bottlings and could even surpass it! VERY LIMITED!

Paul Lato Notes: “Deep red ruby in the glass, this voluptuous Pinot Noir has a dizzying aromatic profile bursting with lavender, warm asphalt, and salt-cured meats. The palate has great depth in fruit and earth qualities reflective of the one-of-a-kind Pisoni Vineyard. Planted over 30 years ago with what are rumored to be cuttings from one of the finest Grand Cru’s of Burgundy, this singular site continues to amaze in the balance, concentration, and ageability of fruit it delivers.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 97 Points: “Coming from the Santa Lucia Highlands and a site located on the southern end and granite soils, the 2015 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard was completely destemmed and brought up in the standard 65% new French oak. Its deep ruby color is followed by killer notes of black raspberries, blueberries, violets, spice and spring flowers. Rich and textured, yet also tight and focused, it’s unquestionably the most fruit forward, rich and concentrated in the lineup. It’s a sensational Pinot Noir from this difficult vintage.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Contender” Drumm Canyon
GGWC 89.99

This might be the best Contender bottling to date!  This rendition of the Drumm Canyon Vineyard “Contender” will make you (happily) dream of a 1er Cru Pommard at a much lower price point!  This latest release is Paul’s best effort to-date and I have only 5 cases of this wine to offer!

Paul Lato Notes: “A highly-perfumed nose of lavender and sweet tobacco alongside lush wild berry notes is beautifully indicative of the Drum Canyon site. The palate is an exotic mélange of hard spice, leather, and bramble fruit, with a surprising and welcome acidity that lends a levity to the muscularity at its core. Like Marlon Brando on the waterfront, it shows that intensity and gracefulness can be a part of the same package.”

Jeb Dunnuck (Formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 95 Points: “The 2015 Pinot Noir The Contender Drum Canyon Vineyard is similarly colored and offers a slightly more plump, rounded style. Framboise, flowers, strawberries and spice give way to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, beautifully textured Pinot Noir that has no hard edges and a terrific finish. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Atticus” John Sebastiano Vineyard, Santa Barbara
GGWC 84.99

This might be one of Paul’s best renditions of this great vineyard.  Intensely aromatic, lush fruit, medium to full in body, but extremely well-balanced.  Bright red stone fruit on the mid-palate with a hint of spice leading into a long silky finish.

Paul Lato Notes: “Elegant, fruity and pleasing. Refreshing acidity with fresh strawberry fruit and violet aromas. There is serious weight to this powerful wine, yet it remains distinctly balanced with a ripe red fruit component that is grounded”

Jeb Dunnuck (Formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 95+ Points: “From a site on the eastern edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2015 Pinot Noir Atticus John Sebastiano Vineyard spent 15 months in 75% new French oak. It’s vibrant ruby color is followed by notes of blackberries, raspberries, smoked earth, ground herbs and hints of minerality. It’s one of the larger framed, riper wines from Paul, yet in this vintage, it stays beautifully focused, tight and pure. It has the balance and texture to shine today, but it will be better with a year or two of bottle age.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Duende” Gold Coast
GGWC 84.99

This is Burgundy made in California!  The Gold Coast Vineyard is almost 30 years old and is not planted on rootstock!  Intensely perfumed aromatics jump out of the glass. Medium to full in body, this wine offers gobs of red stone fruit, a touch of underbrush and spice in its medium to full-bodied shell.  The wine lingers for a longtime into a gorgeous, lengthy finish.

Paul Lato Notes: “The most individualized vineyard in our portfolio. Over 30 year old vines produce this incredibly perfumed, lightly spiced and silky pinot noir. This wine has Burgundian-like complexity. A favorite of many Master Sommelier’s for its truly expressive qualities”

Jeb Dunnuck (Formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 94 Points: “The 2015 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard from Paul was completely destemmed and spent 15 months in 50% new French oak. It’s an ethereally textured, lightly colored, finesse-driven effort that comes from 27-year-old vines and the old Martini clone of Pinot Noir. It offers sensational notes of rose petals, strawberries, cherries, mint and sappy herbs. Medium-bodied, lightly textured, yet with tension, purity and verve, give bottes a year or two of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade.”

Paul Lato 2016 Pinot Noir “Prospect” Sierra Madre
GGWC 89.99

The 2015 Pinot Noir “The Prospect” is polished and sensual from the very first taste. Plump and juicy, but also light on its feet, it has a level of finesse and subtlety that is quite rare in this vintage. Bright, saline notes infuse the tightly wound finish. I would prefer to cellar the 2015 for a year or two.

Paul Lato notes: “The ruby-red color of this wine is lovely in the glass, as are the aromas of framboise, sweet jerky, and flint. Hints of redcurrant and blackberry emerge towards a finish that envelops the palate. Velvety, expansive, and brightly textured.”

Jeb Dunnuck (Formerly with Robert Parker) 2015 – 95 Points: “The 2015 Pinot Noir The Prospect Sierra Madre Vineyard is another Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir from Paul and this was aged 15 months in 45% new French oak. Slightly deeper ruby colored than the Duende, it offers more framboise, black cherry, earth and forest floor aromas and flavors, a silky, layered texture, high, yet integrated acidity and fine tannin. It excels in the more firm, focused style of the vintage and will keep for a decade or more.”

EPIC Mike Smith – Jim Barbour Cabernet

Bench Vineyards is a new family venture from Sam Sharp and Allison Steltzner. The Estate consists of 30 acres and sits next door to Odette and some other great Stag’s Leap vineyards. The name “Bench Vineyards” comes from its unique topography – a true “benchland” vineyard located on the eastern side of the Napa Valley, directly below the Stag’s Leap Palisades.

The vineyard was planted in 1964.  Fast forward to 2011. The family hires vineyardist extraordinaire Jim Barbour and his team to “recultivate” the vineyard, and 100 point winemaker Mike Smith (Myriad, Carter, 12c, Scarlett, Quivet, etc.). Mike and Jim were very impressed with the potential and after trial blends in 2012 and 13 they officially released the first “commercial” Bench Vineyards wine in 2014. An all estate blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a good dusting of Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Amazing color, somewhat inky which tells me intensity! On the nose this wine is bursting with bright black stone fruit and a hint of spice. This gorgeous youngster offers up astounding flavors of crème de cassis, licorice, black stone fruits and a whiff of toasty vanilla.  The wine is full and lush in body, yet extremely well-balanced with the right balance of fruit/acid ratios. The tannins are fine grained and well-integrated with a 30 second finish. Only 250 cases of this second release were produced!

“Terrific” 95 Point, Two Barrel Pinot Noir

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly with Robert Parker) gives this terrific wine 95 Points!  He says, “Coming from very old vines (37-year-old vines), the 2015 Pinot Noir Donum Vineyard offers lots of black cherry, framboise, dried violets and spice characteristics in its elegant, seamless, yet still voluptuous and layered profile. Perfumed and complex aromatically, it’s silky and refined on the palate, with present, yet polished tannin. This terrific 2015 has everything; complexity, volume, depth and length. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. There’s a scant 62 cases made.”

Bibiana González Rave is the founder and winemaker of Cattleya Wines. She is also the wife of star winemaker Jeff Pisoni.  Born and raised in Colombia and trained as a winemaker in France, she moved to California in 2007 to settle into making extraordinary wines.  In her words: “Since my early teenage years, my dream has been to make wine. At a very young age I was fortunate enough to begin learning how to make wine in France. I trained myself while working with some amazing winemakers who showed me the importance of loving the land, how to respect the farming itself, and to focus on the many details that go into making each drop of wine in each and every bottle.”  She also makes the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for Pahlmeyer and owns the “Shared Notes” wine venture with husband Jeff Pisoni.

Winemaker Notes: “Clear ruby-red color with beautiful depth. The nose starts with a combination of raspberries and violets evolving into a spicy blend full of cinnamon, cloves and lightly-roasted coffee. After a few minutes in the glass, the red fruit aromas take over the nose and flirt with vanilla beans and pomegranate.  Intense tannin content indicates aging potential while the acidity focuses the wine texture to the middle – giving a long finish.”

NAPA FIRE UPDATE — CAVUS WINERY BURNED DOWN! They need your help!

My friends Darryl and Laurel Browman at Cavus were very unfortunate and lost their home and winery in the Napa fire. These nice folks have worked so hard to create this venture. You can help them rebuild by supporting their winery and acquiring some very fine wine for yourself as well.

Cavus (Cave), The Cave is a personal tribute to friends, good fortune and life. Darryl (winery owner) and two friends were skiing in Argentina when they took a wrong turn and found themselves on the backside of the mountain with no way out. They built “a cave” and the three friends settled in for the night not knowing what the future would bring. As good fortune would have it they were rescued 24 hours later, tired, thankful and full of joy.  The experience reinforced their philosophy on drinking good wine: why wait for a “special occasion”? Celebrate life each day and “always drink good wine.”

Now they need our help again, this time it is a lit more dire, as everything was whipped out during this awful fire night. I am doing my share but I cannot cary the load alone, so I am asking for you help too!

For those not familiar with the venture, the wines are made by ace Dave Phinney.

Dave Phinney Notes: “The wine opens with ripe cherry and hints of cinnamon, and brown sugar. A lush dark plum and blackcurrant entry gives way to a mid-palate of roasted coffee and a touch of baking chocolate. It finishes with lingering yet subtle flavors of white chocolate and vanilla. Overall, the 2014 Cavus is well balanced with a decadent richness.”

Robert Parker: “The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc with the same barrel aging. This exhibits slightly more concentration and depth, but perhaps it’s just more sexy and open-knit compared to the 2013. Deep blackcurrant fruit intermixed with licorice, graphite and some underlying soil tones are all present in this medium to full-bodied wine to drink over the next 15 or so years.”

LAST CALL FOR Heidi Barrett’s only White

The only white wine from La Sirena, this Moscato is an unusual, delicious dry (not sweet) expression of Muscat Canelli. In its signature blue bottle, Moscato Azul has become a fan favorite for its drinkability, perfumey aroma, crisp acidity, and ability to pair well with many different dishes. It’s especially perfect during the spring and summer time on warm days.

The 2016 is a brilliant pale straw color with vibrant aromas of honeydew melon, tropical fruit, green apple, and jasmine floral notes. This is a very pure expression of Muscat Canelli. Crisp and full across the palate with flavors of tangy green apple, pear, lychee fruit, and white peach. It has a nice lingering finish, great acidity, and a lovely polished profile, quite seamless for a white wine. The 2016 marks the 14th release of Moscato Azul, Heidi’s proprietary white wine recognizable by its unique style and consistency each year. Reminiscent of dry Riesling with a bit of minerality and lime peel in the finish when served very chilled. It has tons of flavor without weightiness, enticingly fresh and immediately lovable, crisp and dry in the finish. Fun and absolutely delicious!

Robert Parker says: ”…A wine that Heidi Barrett does better than just about anybody in California is her unbelievably fun Moscato Azul… Reminiscent of northern Italy’s famous Moscatos. A slow cold fermentation renders a wine with an explosive perfume of spring flowers and tropical fruits. This is an ideal aperitif or breakfast wine, or it can be enjoyed at the end of a meal.” And… ”Barrett has hit pay dirt with a lively, consumer-friendly dry Muscat … It’s a shame more California wineries don’t produce these wines.. It is fresh, light bodied, and crisp… seductive aromatics”.

Actor Alan Rickman, of Bottle Shock fame, once remarked that “it was the most delicious thing ever to pass through my lips.” Can’t argue with that!
