Frank’s new “MilAnge” releases by ace winemaker Paul Lato

MilAnge is my own label, so I am of course very partial to the wine. MilAnge is named after my two daughters, MIL(ayna) and ANGE(lina).  We started the venture in 2007.  The wine was well-received and the demand for more was there, so we decided to get into the “winemaking” business.  We initially only produced one Cabernet, but that has now grown to Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Rose of Pinot Noir all made by award winning winemaker Paul Lato.

The 2015 MilAnge “Santa Rita Hills” Pinot Noir was sourced from one of the most amazing vineyard sites in the Santa Rita Hills. Unfortunately, only 300 bottles were produced, so it will go quick!

The wine is beautifully layered and distinct throughout. On the nose you’ll be greeted by fresh red cherries, dark plums, a hint spice, lavender and rose petals that give the 2015 much of its translucent and comprehensive character.  The elements marry nicely in an attractive, well-made  Pinot that balances the lush and juicy Santa Rita Hills fruit character with lovely precision.  The wine finsishes with beauty and style.

MilAnge 2016 Rose of Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara

This wine is not an afterthought, but a serious contender.  The 2016 MilAnge Rose of Pinot Noir (blend of 2 Santa Barbara vineyards) offers up ample and layered fruit on both nose and palate.  On the nose you’ll encounter crushed flowers, cranberry and bright red cherry notes which continue on the pleasant palate laced with a touch a bright acidity.  The wine is nicely polished (Paul Lato would not have it any other way) finishing gorgeously.   A crowd-pleasing rose!

PS: Don’t forget our MILANGE 2014 SYRAH, SANTA BARBARA  (sourced from the Larner and Bien Nacido vineyards), also made by Paul Lato!   And I also dusted off the last cases of MILANGE 2013 “FAMILY RESERVE” CABERNET, NAPA VALLEY from my cellar!
