The title says it all – not a joke! The “Borrowed Jewels” is a term winemaker Justin Harmon used as most of his wines come from his Sonoma Estate, and he “borrowed the jewels” from the likes of Russell Bevan’s great grapesource, the Sugarloaf Vineyard. This is not a one-time deal, as Justin secured a small section of this amazing Beckstoffer-owned vineyard.

The vintage’s early start to the growing season, and flawless weather through harvest allowed for the opportunity to maximize our extraction due to the superb ripeness of the grapes’ skins. Due to this, the 2013 “Borrowed Jewels” Cabernet Sauvignon is saturated-purple in appearance, packed with supreme levels of richness, and swallows all light shone its way. Upon nosing the glass, pure Cabernet character is most immediate before showing the subtle exoticism this varietal is capable of when allowed the opportunity of an extended harvest season. Once in the mouth, “Borrowed Jewels” makes evident that is has few textural peers, and the palate is just bursting with flavors and intensity.
Robert Parker 94 Points: “The only Cabernet Sauvignon produced is the 2013 Borrowed Jewels from Sugarloaf Vineyard in Napa. This is a beauty, with ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit as well as hints of licorice, graphite and camphor. It is full-bodied, dense, inky and ideal for drinking now as well as over the next two decades.”
