Remarkable White by Wormer Spottswoode Winemaker

Winemaker/owner Rosemary Cakebread has earned her stripes after 30 years in the Napa Valley (Spottswoode, etc.).  She created the Gallica label in 2007 and has been producing amazing Cabernets and Rhone Blends.  She recently added an Albarino to the lineup, and the wine is amazing. I tasted this with some Spanish winelovers and they told me that it resembles the “home land wine.”

Gallica’s only white wine is sourced from Rorick Heritage Vineyard located just outside no apostrophe Murphys, California. Situated north of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra foothills at 2000 feet above sea level, the soils are rich in limestone producing a crisp and vibrant wine.

Refreshingly acidic, yet supple and round, the small addition of Muscat Blanc drives the length with white stone fruit, melon, and a phenolic lift. The synergy created with these two varieties is aromatic heaven with notes of alyssum flower, white peach, lime and ever –so –subtle lemon verbena. ONLY 180 cases produced.
