Kistler Winemaker’s 75 case Pinot ROCKS

Jason Kesner, winemaker extraordinaire at Kistler created yet another amazing wine. Jason was the longtime vineyard manager at Hudson, when in 2002 he produced 25 cases of his first wine for some of the top restaurants like French Laundry, Gary Danko and ME! The following year he produced a massive 75 cases, and the rest as they say is history. Moreover, Jason has brought Kistler to new heights as well, where he has been in charge of winemaking since 2012.  The KESNER WINES are on the “Highly Recommended List” at the French Laundry for over 10 years straight.  He just released a 3 barrel Pinot Gem called “Halfmile”

One half mile north of Marin County. A cool climate Pinot Noir on an unusual deposit of gravelly loam in a coastal valley otherwise dominated by younger clay soils.  Essences of fresh wild blueberries and blackberries salted with fog born dew from the sea. Exuberant blue and dark red fruited tones, lightly crushed violets, tea leaves, graphite shavings. Depth, density, length, remarkable texture and a deft balance with a vibrant underlying poise that hails from the buoyant natural acids. Slight dusty tannins, and full retention of the character of the site.
