Awesome 95 Point Napa Cab Blend under $45 with FREE SHIPPING!

The Buoncristiani O.P.C. is a Napa Valley proprietary red blend.  The synergy of marrying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, while also folding in further complexity of texture and flavor with Napa Malbec and Merlot blenders. Grapes are sourced from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach, Hossfeld, and Bennett. Just like their winemaking fathers before them, with “Ol’ Pa’s Cuvée”  or “OPC”, the four brothers continue the family tradition of handcrafting blends that help accentuate the enjoyment of life.

Buoncristiani 2009 OPC – 95 Points! (Editors’ Choice) :  “Just gorgeous. Floods the mouth with decadent black currant, cherry, chocolate, anise, beef jerky and smoky oak flavors that stun for their addictive deliciousness. Yet it is perfectly dry, and the balance of rich, ripe tannins, acidity and smoky oak is near perfect. The wine is a blend of Bordeaux varieties and Syrah, from esteemed vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach and Caldwell.”

Buoncristiani 2010 CS – Wine Advocate 95 Points“Moving up to the flagship wines, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 2% Merlot (374 cases produced). This seamless, flawlessly constructed wine exhibits lots of blueberry, blackberry, cassis and spring flower characteristics as well as subtle background oak. A blend of all-estate-grown 92% Sauvignon Blanc and 8% Semillon.  The wine was 80% barrel fermented (French Oak) and 20% staineless steel (aged for six months on the lees with no battonage before bottling),  only 293 cases produced.  As 2012 was the year of great weather, it yielded just the right amount of beautiful fruit.  Transucent lemon in appearance, with gorgeous aromas of clementine, jasmine and a touch of minerality.  Medium to full bodied, this wine is complemented by a nice creamy texture mixed with balanced acidity.  Citrus notes ranging from Meyer lemon to ripe Mexican limes combine with the above notes flowing into a finish that begs for a food pairing.

A real steal, this wine

I would never condone stealing, except when it comes to this Pickpocket from our friends from Sans Liege. All joking aside, Sans Liege has made a name for itself as one of the best Rhone Varietal producers in the state, and this latest release might be one of the best ones yet-to-date.

The 2010 Pickpocket (100% Grenache) is sourced from the Alta Colina, Derby Alban, Tablas and Pipestone vineyards. As the light is stripped softly from the bookcases, heavy curtains and sullen marble floors of this country manor, your host is likely to pour you a nightcap from some inky carafe. You are met with a rich perfume of brandied cherry Ceylon tea, fresh plum, nutmeg shard and black chocolate. A final cup of fine ground coffee is served. The sunken glass of the windows waxes to obsidian, and a prick begins worming in your mind: this place has magic. The sense comes quickly and carries with it a taste of old growth forest, burnt cinnamon, tiny sweet strawberries, creek fresh mint and fog. Now in comfortable repose in your room, you notice the creep of long shadows. It is a hours till dawn, and the sheets will make a poor shield from the darkness to come. Only 21 barrels (500 cases were produced), so this will be gone in no time. This wine has great aging potential. I would advise to decant this wine a good two hours before consumption and serve slightly below room temperature.

The Hudson Vineyard is located in the rolling hills of the Carneros, adjacent to the San Pablo Bay. The proximity to the fog and breezes from the bay makes the climate in Los Carneros cooler than surrounding areas, the perfect environment in which to grow Chardonnay. The wine is broad shouldered, with a great rich smooth texture and wonderful natural acidity on the finish. On the nose this little gem offers touches of Bosc pears, hazelnuts and vanilla. Full in body, yet very elegant this wine reveals touches of flinty rock, tropical fruit, honeysuckle and peaches. Lush, yet extremely well-balanced and not overpowering this wine has the right amount of acidity to stand up against the big boys, and will age nicely.

A Super Bowl-Winning Cabernet

Even for those non-football fans – this is a wine to look out for. This might be one of the very best Cabernets to come from Knight’s Valley (better than Peter Michael, really!). The venture is owned by Norma Hunt (Lamar Hunt, former Kansas City Chiefs owner’s wife – who pretty much invented the Super Bowl).  This gorgeous property is well-situated, and when you bring in the Quarterback – Wide Receiver duo of wine (Philippe Melka and Jim Barbour), you can only achieve one thing – SUPERBOWL-like fame with the accompanying quality.

Jackpot winner! – Stunning under 48.00 Napa Cab and FREE SHIPPING

In 1996 David Jackson purchased a 28 year old, dry farmed vineyard in Calistoga and converted it into an award source for great Cabernet.  The first vintage was incepted in a garage in San Francisco, but soon the garage was too small and the Jacksons (JAX) realized that they also needed professional help.  They enlisted cult winemaker Kirk Venge and in no-time the wines adorned the wine list of top New York and San Francisco restaurants.  I was introduced to the wine while dining in a great San Francisco restaurant, and decided to look them up – the rest is history.
