Best in class Grenache

Our friends at Sans Liege have been on a roll for some years now.  In New York this wine (and their …) blew the minds of many of the attendees.  I even got comments like: “This is better than many Rhone wines!” or “wow, amazing quality for the value!” Do I need to say more, this is a winery that  puts a $mile on your face while  keeping $ in your wallet!

Sourced from the Amazing Alta Colina (50%), Derby (30%) and Pipestone (20%) vineyards, the 2009 Pickpocket is more like a thoroughbred that jumps out of the starting blocks without looking back.   The wine is a combination of intensity and elegance, power and grace!  On the nose one encounters intense cherries, figs and a touch of cinnamon.  The luscious palate is loaded with bright red stone fruit, kirsch, a touch of minced meat, and a whiff of minerality.  The elegance surrounds a bold center palate, that leads into a very intense yet long finish loaded with silky tannins. Only 250 cases produced!

The 2010 Cotes du Coast is a Proprietary White blend of Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc sourced from the Bien Nacido and Alta Colina vineyards.  This latest release is an incredibly well-balanced master piece.  A wine to drink during the spring and summer.  On the nose you’ll drift away with aromas (memories of a romantic picnic) of cherry blossom, mango, a touch of mint and fresh peaches.  On the well-structured palate this full-bodied, yet extremely elegant youngster offers up touches of tangerines, lime, amaretto and a whiff of minerality.  The finish is long and pleasant.  I would say this might be the best CdC ever produced!  Only 300 cases produced!
