“The Offering” – Wine of the year? 96 Points GWC

Sans Liege

Sans Liege 2009 "The Offering"Curt Schalchlin is probably one of the most talented (young) winemakers I have met. I would easily put him up for winemaker of the year! The reason for the Wine of the year, is that this wine offers quality, substance and most of all a great price point. Sans Liege has created an amazing following, I almost want to say cultish as it has appealed to the Gen X crowd as well as as the “older” crowds (sorry, I am in that 40+ group too).

Sans Liege 2009 “The Offering” Central Coast

This one hit the jackpot! Curt’s best effort yet to date. The 2009 vintage is a blend of 42% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 25% Mourvedre and 2% Viognier. Mysterious & multilayered with complex earthy pepper, cinnamon, clove and cigar notes as well as candied cherry and currant fruit, this wine exhibits brilliant flavor and concentration. Chinese black tea, dusty earth, cardamom, and dark chocolate meet exuberant pomegranate and orange fruits on the palate for a lingering mineral finish.

We also have just a handful left of some of the other excellent Sans Liege offerings from Curt.
