Andy Erickson does not need an intro. His resume is well-known, but for those who are not familiar he is and has been responsible for Screaming Eagle, Favia, Dalla Valle, Ovid, Arietta, Dancing Hares, Mad Hatter, Staglin, and others. The fruit for the 2009 Leviathan is sourced from the Favia family vineyards (Andy’s wife Annie’s family). I can honestly say that 2009 will “rock-your-world!” As always, jump on the train now as it will leave the station soon!

Andy Erickson is the winemaker for Screaming Eagle, Favia, Dalla Valle, Ovid, Arietta, Dancing Hares, and others. Leviathan is a family venture between Andy and his wife Annie Favia-Erikson and her family—- The 2009 is a blend of almost equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah —- Leviathan means “something unusually large or formidable. I can say that this latest release is just that! —- Perfumes of star anise, paprika, and thyme draw into the glass. Flavors of cherries and blackberry jam rush over the palate, with smooth, silky tannins and intense fruit lingering on a lengthy finish. A sizable wine, the newest incarnation of Leviathan is a hedonistic delight now, and should provide added excitement in years to come – but why wait?
