Scarecrow winemaker driving source behind another Bad Boy!

Rocca Family Vineyards

Celia does not need an introduction and for those who bought the 2006 Bad Boy Red, this one will blow 2006 away! The Rocca’s purchased their vineyards in 1999 and hired Celia to “put them on the map.” I can say she has done just that.  All wines coming from the Rocca property are first class and this “entry” wine is not just another gimmick, but a very serious wine that in a recent blind tasting it stood up nicely against wines 2 to 3 times its price.

Celia Welch (Scarecrow, Corra, etal) put together a real value gem from the Rocca Estate in Yountville. Rocca Family Vineyards Bad Boy Red is a fun, whimsical blend of Bordeaux varietals. The ripe dark cherry and vanilla tones of Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon marry seamlessly with the warm blueberry notes of the Cabernet Franc. The blend is topped off with Petit Verdot. Soft and silky at entry, the wine shows intensity of fruit flavor throughout the palate, while maintaining a sense of finesse. The complexity of fresh fruits, vanilla along with a bit of spice and a touch of toasty oak, linger in a finish that slowly fades to an impression of fresh summer cherries.
